Garrett Hedlund, Gary Oldman, Helena Bonham Carter and Keira Knightley are all linked for roles in Warner Brothers’ live-action adaptation of Akira. The film will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra with a script from Harry Potter screenwriter Steve Kloves.

Looks like those motorcycle skills Garrett Hedlund displayed in TRON: LEGACY are paying off: Though he’s been biding his time since, his patience was rewarded, as the up-and-comer is in negotiations to star in WB’s live-action AKIRA. SHOWBLITZ first reported when the film was greenlit last month that Hedlund was director Jaume Collet-Serra’s top choice to play the lead role of Kenada — and it looks like the studio agrees. Pic follows the leader of a biker gang who must save his friend with potentially destructive psychokinetic abilities from government medical experiments. Hedlund’s name has been linked to a handful of films since TRON: LEGACY, but it looks like he always had his eye on this one. Sources say he had been meeting with Collet-Serra as early as August but, without a budget, no offer could be made until a greenlight was given.

Da tempo gira su tumblr e su vari siti la notizia che Garrett potrebbe essere nel cast del film di Akira (film - manga). In realtà queste voci devono essere smentite perché ancora nulla è certo, Garrett non ha confermato niente.

A giudicare dalla trama mi sembra un manga carino, e sottolineo, un manga! xD L'idea che venga fatto un film su Akira non mi piace molto, credo che sarebbe un altro di quegli inutili film originalmente giapponesi ma fin troppo americanizzati, non so se mi spiego. Questo è solo un mio parere, non ho mai letto Akira e nessun altro genere di manga, staremo a vedere. Comunque preferirei qualche ruolo più "intenso" e significativo per la carriera di G, soprattutto dopo aver fatto Tron Legacy, che è pur sempre un film ispirato a un videogioco. Ora come ora mi piacerebbe vederlo in un ruolo drammatico.
In tutti i casi lo supporterei sempre in qualsiasi scelta che farà, ovviamente! :miao:
